Our Locations
As Sea Scouts, 1st Sailors Bay is fortunate to have two fabulous facilities – our Boatshed overlooking the waters of Sailors Bay, and our Hall on Eastern Valley Way, overlooking Sailors Bay Creek.
The Boatshed
Located off Rockley Street, Castlecrag, we meet here in Spring/Summer (ie. Terms 4 & 1).
Activities held at the boatshed include:
- canoeing & kayaking
- stand up paddle boarding
- surf skiing
- powered boating
- sailing
- swimming
- games
The Boatshed sits on the foundations of the original boatshed, built in 1948 with volunteer labour. The original boatshed unfortunately burnt down in a suspicious fire in 1998. The current boatshed was officially opened in 2003.
The Boatshed is fully equipped with a large hall at the top, with adjacent kitchen and bathrooms and a balcony that overlooks Sailors Bay.

The Hall
Located at 43 Eastern Valley Way, Castlecrag, we meet here in autumn/winter (ie. Terms 2 & 3).
Activities held at the hall include:
- games
- cooking
- knots and other badgework
- special visitors (eg. police, reptile displays etc)
- campfires
The Hall was originally the milk depot that serviced the ‘Waratah Dairy’, owned by J.R. (Reg) Warner. The horsesheds at the back of the Hall were housed the horses which took milk from the depot to the people of Willoughby when the roads opened in 1939.
The Hall has undergone extensive renovations over time and now includes two halls, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a fire-pit, as well as ample storage.
